Message from the Director of the Graduate School
The George Washington University
of Political Management
George Washington's Graduate School of Political Management invented the idea and launched the first school dedicated to the teaching of practical politics 25 years ago. Our vision has always been to be the world's premier school of applied politics, dedicated to defining, shaping, and leading the field of professional politics.
As the school whose namesake – George Washington – cautioned against the perils of excessive partisanship, we are dedicated to the purpose of "helping democracy work." We seek to train students of all political persuasions in how to not only win campaigns, but to do so ethically while preserving the range of motion necessary to govern. These skills are essential if we are to advance the common good.
Our school is ideally positioned in the heart of Washington, DC. This allows us to meld a faculty comprised of both leading scholars and practitioners at the leading edge of campaign management, advocacy, and communication. Many in our faculty apply their skills in political campaigns at the highest level in the U.S. and throughout the world. Studying in this fast paced international capital allows immersive opportunities to learn, interact globally and experience politics in action first hand.
GW's Graduate School of Political Management is dedicated to helping its students and alumni succeed in the high-stakes world of professional campaign management, issues advocacy, lobbying, public relations, and political leadership. We focus on the interaction between policy and technology including the role of social media in promoting change and reaching voters in today's political age. We also continue to teach the basics of campaigning, message building, brand identification, leadership, targeting, political research, and polling.
We firmly believe that our programs-whether they are in legislative affairs, PAC management, public relations, or political management-represent the very best in graduate education in the field of applied politics.
Look us over and I think you will agree that we have many exciting opportunities and offerings available to you. I encourage you to join the team of George Washington University's Graduate School of Political Management and learn how together we can all win by "helping democracy work."
